Latest Up Dates on Round Ireland Yacht Race 2014

Key match races emerging on the West Coast Posted by WicklowSC on 30 Jun 2014 in News

Round Ireland Race 2014Monday 30th of June – lunchtime update. With all the yachts now on the west coast, Wicklow’s Monster Project under the helm of Farmer Ryan is now at the half way stage with Teng Tools Kilcullen about 8 miles behind. There is match race behind them between the 2 60 footers; Team Jolokia and NewsTalk For Adrenalin. However the real race is mid fleet and a real surprise package is splitting 2 former winners. Leading on handicap is Cavatina, with previous winning owner Eric Lisson on board and in 3rd place, previous winner, the veteran Liam Shanahan, on Ruth but amazingly after 2 days on the water, father and son Conor and Derek Dillon on Big Deal are holding on to second place. Other fascinating duels in the pack include the two Irish Offshore Sailing boats, Desert Star and Sherkin who have been consistently in the top ten interchanging rankings. Also, the 2 Class 40’s, Arwen and May Contain Nuts are having ding dong battle. Only 6 hours on corrected time separate the top 10 boats – a missed tidal gate off the north coast could quickly change all that. Keep watching on the Tracker – its going to be a nail biting finish.
