Sportsyoga  3 Hour  Workshop For Rowers On  Friday Nov 16@ 6.30pm

Yoga has become a popular training tool in many athletic environments today.  The majority of athletes are still only using one component of yoga- the ability to stretch properly.

However when the other two principles are applied , The rower will gain the maximum output from his training session plus learning techniques on how to heal, restore and balance the body during recovery time.

The workshop includes the 3 Principles of Sportsyoga.

  • Injury Prevention
  • Breathing
  • Rest/Recovery/Rehab

Workshop Timetable

 

6.30pm- Introduction to the workshop and the benefits to a rower. Science shows us that rowing breaks down to 67% aerobic and 33% anaerobic workout metabolically.

Explanation of Pranayama – Energy/ Breathing / Storing the energy within the body

6.45pm- Pranayama Practice No 1–The three-phrase breath, engaging of core energies that is the key to speed and endurance.

7.00pm– Sportsyoga class which can be implemented into a daily training session.  Learn to  train the body to work as a connective unit therefore being aware of discomfort in the body long before the injury occurs.Proper exercise should be pleasant to the practitioner and should be a lifestyle. 

7.45pm- Break .

8.00pm Pranayama practice No 2- strengthening the respiratory system, Learn two different techniques to practice daily. Increase your fitness level by conditioning the lungs.

8.30pm – Specific yoga postures for rowers.

  • Shoulder and Hip openers,
  •  Balancing postures,
  •  Lengthening hip flexors and hamstrings.
  •  Mobility in lower back
  • Core Strength/ Stability of hips.

9.00pm

Rest and Recovery Session.  Learn the technique of Yoga Nidra. An excellent means of releasing lactic acid from the body. Improves mental focus and concentration, Body recovers and heals quicker than standard recovery techniques.
